It’s strange, the things you miss about someone. I always find myself reaching for little faded memories of whispered verses during a half asleep car-ride.
She brings to light moments that faces in the crowd will never forget, capturing that raw energy of a live forum.
This rag-tag team of rockers took to their vans and headed out to Texas for SXSW, where they did a handful of unofficial showcases to spread the word about the label and it’s killer musicians. Seven bands, one Airbnb, and several nights captured on film.
“Winters of my Youth”, starts off with a slow melody, but soon gives you no room to breathe and makes you want to hop into the center of a mosh pit to just thrash around. With a vibe that combines the angst of SWMRS and the placidity of Mt. Eddy, you can’t help but feel right at home. With lyrics, “Texting you at 2am / Cause I just want to be your friend” and “Waking up at 9am / I start to glance over our texts / Some things were said, some things were read”, BBQ Pope are not only relatable, but catchy and satirical.
In mid January I went on a mini tour with Cleveland punk band, Ricky Hell and The Voidboys. We stopped first in Buffalo, NY where the boys played a house show for some real rockers! From there we spent the day in the van on the way to play the Silent Barn in Brooklyn, NY. On the last day of our trip they recorded at Time Castle, a DIY recording studio in Brooklyn, before heading back to Cleveland. Here are some photos of good times with good friends.
Back in January at SOMA our sweet friends from Penniback Records presented the Beach Goons along with Junkie, The Crudes, Espresso, Kut U Up, and Effe Emme! Check out moments of the night that were captured on film through the lens of @motherof9pam!
It’s just part of life, living in San Diego. You see it on your way to school, or on your way home. Growing up here, the ocean is just an aspect of your life. Whether you’re just watching it having your morning coffee, fishing, or surfing in it, its always there.
Santa Cruz on film, in monochrome and colour.
Four days after my ex-boyfriend left me for another girl, I hopped on a plane to visit my family in Yankton, South Dakota. Surprisingly, these 7 days spent in a small mid western town cured my broken heart beyond belief. As you journey through my thoughts and feelings experienced throughout the week, I encourage you to listen to the songs listed. Each song expresses what I hope the pictures capture.
I love using film because it makes you really think about what you want to take a picture of, there is no deleting and once you press that shutter the photo pretty much exists forever. There’s also something nice about not knowing what the photo is going to look like until its developed, it really forces you to trust yourself.
My friends and I are always doing shit that I know we will forget about so I just want to document those moments from the perspective of a participant. Beauty is in the imperfections. All images are shot on film and un-altered.
The photos on your phone will never amount to the emotion that rushes through you in the moment.
