Desert Daze takes place on October 12-14, at the tail end of festival season- even more reason to attend before the festivals finish for the year. Headliners include indie rock bands Mercury Rev, Tame Impala, and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard; as well as experimental hip-hop group Death Grips. Smaller acts on the bill include Hinds, a four-piece female-led indie rock band (which we’ve featured several times here on Pure Nowhere), experimental folk musician Chelsea Wolfe, and rock trio Earthless. Aside from music, Damien Echols of the West Memphis Three will be making an appearance at the festival to present ‘High Magick: A Guide to the Spiritual Practices That Saved My Life on Death Row.’ Films and art installments are yet to be announced. This is just phase two of the full lineup announcement, however. Phase three will include the entire bill, but it is unclear when it will come out.
Camping is available on festival grounds, which is set at Moreno Beach with a view of Lake Perris. The venue is about an hour and a half from Los Angeles. In other words, it’s an hour and a half from rapid fire city life in exchange for music and beautiful scenery- almost unheard of in today’s time.
We will hopefully be covering the event, but stay tuned while we find out for sure. If we do, you’ll be able to live through the festival from our full coverage article.
