Northern stretch of coast & a trip for the books. Drew Austin shares a diary of salt-drenched surf snaps, straight from the australian ocean.
I recently sat down with Brian Strauss and Christian Cate of the San Diego local band Of Ennui to talk about their latest release, Tone Poems. If you’re a fan of heavy, melodic, atmospheric, moody shoegaze jams then this band is for you. Keep reading for photos and interview.
Growing up in Riverside, California, Brown has been playing music since her childhood alongside her sister, Chelsea Brown, and plays in several bands including Winter and Summer Twins. It wasn’t until she created Easy Love where she could tell her own stories to the soundtrack of guitar riffs inspired by 90s rock music.
With hints of 1960s folk and indie rock inspired sounds, you can’t help but feel as though you are drifting away on a cloud of nostalgia.
The Regrettes: a (mostly) girl punk band from Los Angeles California that have been taking over the local scene as we know it. In mid January I went on a mini tour with Cleveland punk band, Ricky Hell and The Voidboys. We stopped first in Buffalo, NY where the boys played a house show for some real rockers! From there we spent the day in the van on the way to play the Silent Barn in Brooklyn, NY. On the last day of our trip they recorded at Time Castle, a DIY recording studio in Brooklyn, before heading back to Cleveland. Here are some photos of good times with good friends.
Back in January at SOMA our sweet friends from Penniback Records presented the Beach Goons along with Junkie, The Crudes, Espresso, Kut U Up, and Effe Emme! Check out moments of the night that were captured on film through the lens of @motherof9pam!
Just recently we were given the opportunity to interview, Garden City Movement over email. The Tel Aviv based group consisting of Roy Avital, Yoav Saar, and Johnny Sharoni made their initial debut in 2013 with the release of their single ‘Move On’. The trio are now shaking up the music world with their own ethereal take on electro-pop and R&B in their soon to be released album “Apollonia”. We were able to go into depth on their dream collaborations, thoughts on the digital age, and advice for new artists. Read on to hear each member’s unique opinion.
By the end of it, the band’s on the floor, the tambourine’s broken, and everyone’s pretty f*cking confused. A FILM DIARY.
