Aussie Babes

I’m in love with my home. With my little town, the beaches my life is surrounded by, and my entire country. Every day I wake up, I’m inspired by where I live. The place I call home. But more than anything, I’m inspired by the girls growing up alongside me.

Sit back and immerse yourself in the thoughts of four Aussie babes dotted around the country. Soak in their positivity, their laid-back lifestyles, their pure outlooks on life and the world, and fall in love with them. I certainly have.  X

Okay, Laika, tell me a bit about yourself.

I’m a girl from Western Australia who has been by the ocean since day 1. I’m vegan and love gardening & growing veggies, and we have tons of fruit trees! I love being active; surfing, walking, biking, swimming, etc. I care a lot about the planet and I love where I live but I can’t wait to travel the world one day.

What do you love about your home?

I live out-of-town so it’s pretty quiet. I love my home because it’s close to the beach, it’s quiet in the off-season, there’s so much diversity and bush around (with wildlife such as kangaroos everywhere!!), there’s so many cool places to explore and there’s a lot of surf breaks!! I love that I can grow my own veggies and fruits too!

A typical day for me is to wake up, do a few jobs, a workout, breakfast, school work (I’m homeschooled!), some more jobs and stuff, lunch, more school work, a walk, dinner, and bed. Sometimes I go to the beach or town though.

What inspires you?

A lot of things! YouTubers and Instagram account like Stella Rae, Cartia Mallan, earthlingmaxi and soo many more are so inspiring for me. My family inspires me, my friends inspire me, even myself inspires me sometimes!

What are you passionate about?

Earth, animal rights, and equality ✌️✌🏻✌🏼✌🏽✌🏾✌🏿.

You’re vegan, right?

Yeah, I’ve been vegan for almost two years now!! I’m vegan because I believe it’s the least harmful (to animals, the environment AND your body) way of eating. 99% of the time it’s been super easy, the hardest part is probably people hassling me about it but I just laugh it off now. I feel pretty amazing for the most part, I’ve never been as energetic, healthy, and happy as I am now! It fits my lifestyle perfectly because I also love growing food.  X

Tell me a bit about yourself.

I’d say I’m a very independent, overly friendly beach-lover!

So, you live around Noosa, up on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. What’s your favourite thing about your home, and Australia in general?

My favourite thing would probably be living so close to the beach and how nice the people are here. I love the fact that I get to wake up everyday to sunshine with a smile on my face. There is so much of this beautiful country to explore & at my age I’m only just getting started.

You’re homeschooled, right? Tell me about that. Do you enjoy it? How do you feel it impacts your life?

Yeah, I home school. I have been since grade 3. I do enjoy it, obviously it can be hard staying social considering you’re not in a classroom filled with other students. But I feel like home schooling makes learning more diverse & caters more for my brain & my individuality. I can make learning more personal & get a firmer understanding of a concept.

What does a typical day look like for you?

If I’m working: I usually have breakfast and find small online workouts to do. After work I’ll usually go to the beach or just stay home and play piano.

If I’m not working: Me and my boyfriend go on adventures and do random stuff! It’s actually pretty hard to fit everything in because I have work, I have a needy boyfriend (haha), I workout, do chores, & spend time with friends and at the beach. But I fit in my home schooling when ever I get the opportunity, & sometimes just have to make time for it.

How do you try to live your life?

I just try to live life to fullest & enjoy every moment. Considering you only get a certain amount of it before you die, time is the most important currency we have. So I try to spend it wisely and not waste it on negative unnecessary influences.  X

Tell me a bit about yourself.

I was born and raised in South Africa, and I moved to Aus in 2009 with my family. I’m absolutely obsessed with Italian Greyhounds, I love interior design, I’m obsessed with plants and cacti and I like to cook. I’m also really into social media.

Where do you live and what’s life like there?

In Noosa on the east coast of Queensland. It’s got a very vacation vibe to it. Beautiful beaches and lovely locals, you’ll find organic shops and fresh produce from the locals everywhere. It’s honestly a dream. Compared to living in South Africa, Australia is heaven on earth. Everywhere is so clean and tidy and most places have been so well-preserved. I really appreciate how far Australia goes to keep its nature in its beautiful state.

What does a typical day look like for you?

First thing I do when I wake up is make a hot drink, whether it’s tea, coffee or hot chocolate. No matter how hot it is outside, I need my drink!! Normally I either hang out with friends and help them out (one friend has a bikini brand and the other has an online blog), but otherwise I’m with my boyfriend. The best part of my day is when I get to cook my breakfast or make smoothies or acai bowls.

What do you believe in?

If someone is passionate about something then you need to let them be. Everyone has their opinions – why should you try to change it? I believe everyone should chase their dreams, and if they need to make hard decisions in order to achieve them, it’s something they’ve got to do. Otherwise it’ll never happen.

What do you try to live your life by?

You’re only going to be as good as the people you surround yourself with. If you ever find that you’re the most talented person in the room, you need to find another room.

You’ve talked about other people’s dreams. What’s your biggest dream?

To own my own brand/company/label/business of some sort! I want to be the most epic girl boss ever!!  X

It’s worth noting that Janae is one of my closest friends in the world, and during this interview she managed to: insult my height, talk about how her tan was turning yellow “homer simpson style” , recount a nightmare involving Goldilocks and the three bears, and continuously ask me if it was weird to interview someone I knew so well. Which it was. But seriously, what a girl. ]

Tell me a bit about yourself.

I loveeee the beach and hot weather, but also over-sized jumpers, so I guess winter’s alright as well. I play soccer, and I love festivals, art, sport and music (Flume, Disclosure, Lorde, Ziggy Alberts, 1975 and Major Lazer are just a few of my faves). Also I’m actually vegetarian and have been for about 2 months now.

I’m a midget, and laugh at EVERYTHING. I’m also that friend who thinks they’re funny and laughs at their own jokes. I’m pretty weird and very loud, but Abby’s still friends with me so I guess I’m okay.

You live on the south coast of Australia (with me, of course). What’s life like there?

Pretty good, pretty chill. I love how it’s so multicultural around here. So many people from different countries coming together!

What do you love to do?

I love dancing to loud music in my kitchen when the light is just shining through the blinds. I love to draw and make art. I love adventures and 3am maccas runs. I love travelling and I love going out with friends …but to be real here, I love eating and laughing at my own jokes

What do you try to live your life by?

“You fear death but you don’t live.” I over think death sometimes … the thought of being gone and not knowing what will happen next … I don’t really like to think about it too much. I just try to live life to the fullest. Yeah, that’s really cliché and shit, but you never know when your life is gonna end. Do whatever you want and have fun and experience things while you can.

Biggest dream?

To travel across the world with some lovely people and learn new things, meet new people and go everywhere. I just want to see the world.  X
